A short murder story.

He told her he loved her on the dusty afternoon of a midwestern summer, when her palm was sweaty but he held it firm. On a rainy morning of a grey autumn’s Sunday he was gone again, with only the tire tracks in the mud and the fading ghost of her palm print on the glass to remember him. She gave up hope on the cold blanketed ground of a bitter winter, with no sound but rasping breath and the feel of her palm preparing rope. He told her he loved her on the crisp green of a fresh spring day, with his palm pressed to stone and only flowers to hear him.
